“And hast made us unto our God kings and priests: and we shall reign on the earth…” – Revelations 5:10
Jesus died to make us Kings and Priests. The bible said He made us (not that He will make us) Kings and Priests. You are already a King and a Priest. The paramount purpose of Kings and Priests is to reign in life. To reign in life is to fulfill the exact command of God to man from the beginning. In the book of Genesis chapter 1, God commanded man to have dominion over everything that He (God) has made. To reign in life is our heavenly Father’s greatest heart desire.
For too long, many Christians focus only on their priestly calling and little or not at all on their kingly calling. No wonder many Christians are going to heaven through hell . There is nothing kingly about them. You can take a man out of a bush but you may not take the bush out of the man. They have been given the power but they are not reigning over sickness, poverty, curses, road accidents, and failures. It breaks the heart of God when His children on earth are not representing Him in excellence, wisdom, power and authority. Jesus paid the price so that you and I will reign in life. When Adam sinned, death reigned through him to every one of us. Similarly through Jesus’ righteousness we receive abundant grace to reign in life.
For if by one man’s offense death reigned by one; much more they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ…Romans 5:17
Jesus, our model is likened to Melchizedek who was both priest and king as Hebrews 7:1 narrates:
… this Melchizedek, king of Salem, priest of the Most High God…
and in verse 17:
For He testifies: “You are a priest forever according to the order of Melchizedek
The Bible said expressly:
… as He is, so are we in this world.1 John 4:17
As Jesus is a King and Priest, so are you. This truth must gain ascendancy into the core of your personality. Your entire life must revolve around this truth.
Are you reigning in life? Remember that you cannot consistently perform in a manner that is inconsistent with the way you see yourself. It’s easy to see yourself as a priest but do you see yourself as a king? It is impossible to reign in life without the mindset of a king. You must change from slavery mentality to kingly mentality. Nebuchadnezzar acted like an animal because he received the mind of an animal. This is well elaborated in the book of Daniel 4:31-34. But you have the mind of Christ as we are told in 1 Corinthians 2:16. The mind of Christ is a king’s mind. You need to activate this mind. Start thinking and acting like a king. Cultivate the mentality of kings.
